How we keep Janaḥ useful, honest and safe for everyone who lives, works and reports here.
1Why these guidelines exist
Janaḥ works when people can trust what they read and feel safe taking part. These guidelines describe what that looks like. They are part of our Terms of Service.
2Be accurate and fair
Report what you saw. Say where and when, add clear photos or video, and avoid guessing at blame.
Correct or delete a report if the facts change. When an authority resolves an issue, mark it honestly.
Criticise the problem or the service, not a person’s character.
3Protect people’s privacy
Do not post home addresses, phone numbers, ID documents, or private photos of people.
Blur or avoid faces and vehicle numbers unless they are the point of the report.
Location on public reports is shown at an area level. Do not add exact addresses of private homes.
4Treat everyone with respect
No abuse, threats, hate or harassment, including on grounds of caste, religion, gender, language, region or disability.
No content that stirs communal tension or violence.
Disagree politely. Repeated hostile behaviour leads to limits or removal.
5Keep it authentic
One person, one account. No fake accounts, purchased reactions or coordinated pile-ons.
Do not impersonate an official, department or another person.
Do not use Janaḥ for advertising, spam or unrelated promotion.
6Running a community well
Presidents and Vice Presidents moderate their communities. Use permissions for the residents’ benefit, be transparent about decisions, and keep notices, polls and events relevant to the neighbourhood.
7Safety and emergencies
Janaḥ is not an emergency service. In immediate danger, call 112. Do not post plans for, or images of, violence or self-harm; if you are worried about someone, contact local emergency services or a helpline.
8What happens when rules are broken
Depending on severity we may remove content, limit features, suspend an account, or refer matters to authorities where the law requires. You can appeal decisions by writing to support@janah.in. Report anything that worries you from the ··· menu on any post, comment, community or profile.
